On November 18, 2021, TOKEN consortium member Infrachain hosted its fifth edition of the Infrachain Summit. The TOKEN Project’s BCPaaS was presented in a dedicated side session.
Lynda O’Mahony, Project manager at FundingBox, and Konstantinos Glykos, Research Associate at CERTH/ITI, presented the TOKEN Blockchain-platform-as-a service (BCPaaS), which allows public administrations to easily adopt blockchain to manage processes in a more open, trustworthy, efficient and transparent way.
TOKEN is developing an experimental ecosystem to enable the adoption of Distributed Ledger Technologies and to prove its value, via highly replicable Use Cases, as a driver for the transformation of public services towards an open and collaborative government model approach.
O’Mahony and Glykos explained that the TOKEN BCPaaS infrastructure is composed of free services and software components that are 100% free and open source according to licenses approved by the Free Software Foundation Europe (FSFE) and emerging open standards.
O’Mahony revealed the four blocks of services of the Token Platform which consist of:
Blockchain-based Notarization
It works by creating a unique fingerprint of a piece of digital information and storing it in the blockchain. Additional metadata may be stored on-chain or off-chain.
Decentralized Identity
The Token Platform offers trustworthy, interoperable, and standards-based Decentralized Identity (DID) services for individuals and organizations.
Glykos elaborated by presenting the Self-Sovereign Identity technology, mentioning that Token is designing and implementing decentralized identity services that allow entities to control and manage their identities. It also designs and implements services that allow entities to issue, store, prove and verify verifiable credentials using private communication channels.
Decentralized Storage
The Token Storage Network is a Distributed system for storing and accessing files, websites, applications, and data, using the content address rather than its location.
Messaging and Events Streaming
Token Streams create communication channels between multiple parties in order to transmit data securely.
The side session was moderated by Tom Kettels, Project lead at Infrachain.
